Frequently asked questions

You mentioned replacement blades are easy to find. Where can I find them?
The blades are 5” scraper blades and can be found at home improvement stores or you can do an online search for sources. I also sell them here at ClickaSlice.com.

The blades seem to discolor and look like they’re corroding. Is this normal?
Most scraper blades are not the stainless steel that you’re used to with tissue and other polymer clay blades. They will most likely dull from use before your blade corrodes. A little discoloration does not affect the cutting edge. If you go long periods of time between use, you can lightly coat the blade with a light oil or even Vaseline to keep the metal protected from air and moisture.

My blade is bowed and my slices are not straight. How do I fix this?
This is a simple adjustment. Your handles are too close. Unscrew the handle screws and slightly pull out the handles. Place the whole assembly on the base to align the blade edge across the bottom of the base, then push the handles inward towards each other. Lightly tighten the screws and check that the blade assembly moves smoothly up and down within the base grooves and that the blade is flush with the base. Once everything is adjusted and aligned, tighten the screws fully.

No matter how hard I try to adjust the blade, there is too much wiggle while bringing the blade down during a cut.
The blade assemblies on earliest versions of the ClickaSlice had a very tight blade inset tolerance. This means that if the blade width on your replacement blades is too wide for the inset, it will push the blade assembly out too far to have a good fit with the base grooves. This has since been fixed with a much bigger tolerance for slightly wider blade widths. If you are experiencing this problem, please contact me at kathy@clickaslice.com for a replacement blade assembly.
